Changes to holiday entitlement and pay
There have been longstanding concerns about the complexities of holiday entitlement and holiday pay. Ongoing cases on a range of holiday issues have all presented challenges for employers.
The Government is looking to simplify matters and the Employment Rights (Amendment, Revocation and Transitional Provision) Regulations 2023 came into force on 1 January 2024, with various implementation dates throughout 2024.
Employment partner, Matthew Smith and Simon Cheetham KC of Old Square Chambers, hosted the webinar. Simon has been recognised as a leading practitioner in employment law by Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500 and Who’s Who Legal for many years so we were delighted that he joined us.
Matthew and Simon:
- Set the scene and provided an overview of holiday entitlement and pay
- Explained the need for reform
- Provided an overview of the new Regulations
- Discussed the practical implications
- Identified potentially tricky issues for employers
