Managing remote working
With the announcement by the Prime Minister that people in England should continue to work from home (if they can) until April 2021 and a similar approach taken in the other regions of the UK, employers need to have appropriate measures in place to ensure that working remotely is carried out effectively.
In our webinar, on 11 December 2020, employment lawyers Debra Gers and Madeleine Mould and HR consultant David Miles discussed the challenges employers face in managing staff working remotely but also the opportunities for everyone involved.
Our topics included how to deal with immediate challenges such as managing disciplinaries and grievances remotely, handling concerns about performance, carrying out redundancy consultation, ensuring junior staff still have the opportunity to “learn on the job” and becoming more proactive in supporting staff wellbeing in their working environment, which may by now be taking its toll on them in different ways.
We also considered longer-term challenges such as workforce strategy, how to exit remote working, compensation and benefits issues and effective leadership.
