Gender bias and the authority gap
In Blake Morgan’s Investing in Success webinar, we were privileged to be joined by Mary Ann Sieghart, author of The Authority Gap: Why We Still Take Women Less Seriously Than Men, and What We Can Do About It (published by Doubleday). Her book provides a startling perspective on the unseen bias at work in our everyday lives, to reveal the scale of the gap that still persists between men and women.
Mary Ann shared with us her learnings and the changes needed at individual, organisational and legislative levels to close the gap. With research showing that men in more gender-equal societies report higher levels of happiness and satisfaction in work and home life, while gender-diverse companies are more profitable, this event could influence your Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity agenda and help you to create a fairer society in which you live.
As Mary Ann is also chairing the 2022 Women’s Prize for Fiction, which Blake Morgan proudly support, she also stressed the importance of reading books written by women.
