Darryn is an Associate in Blake Morgan’s Insolvency & Business Support team. Despite dealing with predominantly property dispute-related matters for the past 17 years Darryn has over 3 years’ specialist experience working with and for insolvency practitioners, companies, directors and private individuals dealing with litigious proceedings, transactional instructions and general advisory work in the context of both personal and corporate insolvency procedures.
Darryn’s transactional experience relates to assisting insolvency practitioners realise a company’s business or assets or assisting third parties acquire those assets from officeholders.
On the contentious side, Darryn has acted on a variety of contentious proceedings, typically for insolvency practitioner clients pursuing, or acting for directors or individuals defending, antecedent transactions (such as transactions at an undervalue, unlawful preferences, wrongful or fraudulent trading) often in both liquidation and bankruptcy contexts.
Main areas of practice
Darryn works within the firm’s Business Support and Insolvency team dealing with a range of insolvency assignments including:
- Voluntary and compulsory liquidations
- Administrations including non-contentious transactions
- Law of Property Act receiverships
- Voluntary arrangements
- Issuing proceedings pursuant to sections 234, 236 and 366 of the Insolvency Act 1986 to obtain information and documentation required by insolvency practitioners
- Company restorations
- Block Transfer applications
- Bankruptcies including annulment of bankruptcies and possession and sale applications for properties.

- Assisting a board of directors to settle a substantial alleged breach of duty claim at mediation.
- Assisting the appointed liquidators in resolving a substantial multi-claim dispute at mediation.
- Advising on the appointment of an administration of FCA-regulated financial services companies.
- Assisting the administrator on the successful sale of a joinery business on behalf of its joint administrators, securing 70 jobs and enabling the business to continue trading.
