Katie works in our Business Restructuring & Insolvency Group.
Main areas of practice
Katie deals with all aspects of insolvency covering both contentious and non-contentious, corporate and personal insolvency. Katie has been involved with, and led, a number of pre-pack administrations as well as some high level litigation. Katie has recently strengthened her experience in dealing with cross-border jurisdiction matters involving assets located outside of England and Wales.
Clients
Katie works with Insolvency Practitioners in order to maximise recoveries to the insolvent estate.
Katie also acts for and advises banks, lenders and creditors. This work ranges from advising on security granted to a borrower, advising on enforcement options of that security, and taking various enforcement steps including the appointment of Receivers or commencing winding up or bankruptcy proceedings, where appropriate.
Katie also acts for directors and companies that find themselves in distress, where she advises on them on the options available and the risks involved.

Career
Katie started her working career as a paralegal back in 2012. Whilst working full-time, Katie studied for her Law degree part time at the University of Buckingham, graduating in 2018 before taking a break on her studies.
Katie returned to studying in February 2021 where she embarked on a course to qualify as a solicitor under the new Solicitors Qualification Examination route. Katie was one of the first ever cohort to study for, take the exams and qualify as a solicitor under this new route, qualifying in September 2022.

Significant Experience
- Assisted on the reported case of RE Arlington Infrastructure Limited [2020] EWHC 3123 (Ch), acting for the administrators of the parent company in successfully challenging the validity of n out-of-court appointment of administrators over the subsidiary companies.
- Successfully defended an application brought against her client (in her capacity as the Supervisor of an Individual Voluntary Arrangement) for an order that the IVA be declared a nullity. The application was brought on the basis that the debtor had not consented to the modifications prior to the IVA coming into force in 2012.
- Assisted on the reported case of Singh v Hicken [2018] EWHC 3277 (Ch) relating to an appeal of a bankrupt's application for permission to challenge a Trustee in Bankruptcy's remuneration.
- Acted for the Liquidator of a motion picture production company in a multi-million pound claim against the director for misfeasance and breach of duty.
- Acted for a litigation funder in a claim against a director, de facto director and connected company in a multi-million pound claim for breach of duty and successfully obtaining a Freezing Order against their assets.
