Thanos is a dual-qualified lawyer (England & Wales and Greece). He advises businesses on a wide array of commercial matters, including software licensing, SaaS and DaaS, outsourcing and managed services, professional services, the sale of products and services through marketplaces, the distribution and reselling of hardware and software, as well as information security and data privacy.

With in-house experience in the tech sector, including at a public F1000 company, Thanos adeptly drafts and negotiates complex agreements, providing tailored, commercially focused solutions and grasping the commercial implications of legal issues.

Career

Thanos graduated from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, School of Law, and started his legal career as a trainee in Athens at a law firm recognised by Legal500, completing seats in dispute resolution, commercial, corporate, and IP.

After completing his LLM in Commercial and Intellectual Property Law from the London School of Economics, he worked as a legal consultant on commercial and corporate matters and dispute resolution before moving in-house. He later joined a F1000 US firm as Legal Counsel, supporting the EMEA and North America regions, focusing on IT contracts, data protection, and IP for the firm’s diverse SaaS portfolio.

Significant Experience

  • Drafted and negotiated IT contracts including Master Service Agreements, SaaS Agreements, Software License Agreements, Statements of Work, MoUs, Reseller and Distributor Agreements and Partnership Agreements with Fortune 500 and Fortune 100 companies, along with professional services terms.
  • Led settlement discussions with a Fortune 500 retailer regarding alleged SLA breach and delayed implementation in franchisees' EU locations, drafting and negotiating the full and final settlement and release agreement.
  • Conducted legal due diligence in the tech sector for both sell-side and buy-side M&A transactions, with focus on evaluating contractual obligations and liability limits, intellectual property assets and data compliance.
  • Provided counsel to SaaS provider on the sale of software offerings to business customers through Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure marketplaces. Advised on the Terms of Use of the Marketplace, terms of partnership, 'passthrough' terms, and the overall go-to-market model.
