Blake Morgan announces new partner promotions

Leading law firm Blake Morgan has announced the promotion of Paul Duggan and Elizabeth Covil to Partner with effect from 1 May 2022. These appointments follow on from the recent appointment of Jenny Williamson as a Partner in Blake Morgan’s family law team.

The promotions reflect Paul and Elizabeth’s expertise and exemplary record of providing a quality service to clients, as well as Blake Morgan’s ongoing commitment to nurturing the next generation of talent at the firm.

Paul Duggan leads the Banking and Finance team in the Cardiff practice. Paul, who joined Blake Morgan in August 2017, acts on a wide range of debt finance transactions. Paul was named as a ‘rising star’ in the Legal 500 rankings for 2020 and 2021 and a ‘next generation partner’ in the 2022 rankings – the latter describing Paul as a “rare thing among banking lawyers,” due to his professionalism and expertise to find solutions that are “both watertight and commercial.” The Chambers and Partners 2022 guide also named Paul as an ‘Associate to watch’ – praising his “excellent” ability to explain complex legal matters in layman’s terms.

Elizabeth Covil is a commercial property lawyer based in Blake Morgan’s Southampton property services team and specialises in the purchase, sale, development and disposal of commercial property. Elizabeth was admitted to the California Bar in 2002 and worked in-house at a Fortune 300 company before she moved to the UK. Her client base centres on defence contractors, government and quasi-government entities, as well as retailers and corporate occupiers. Elizabeth first joined Blake Morgan in June 2015, and returned to the firm in March 2019 as a Legal Director. Across her time with the firm, Elizabeth has built a strong reputation for her client services, and focus on empowering clients and colleagues alike. She will play a crucial role in the development of the Southampton property services team.

Cyfreithiwr eiddo masnachol yw Elizabeth Covil sydd wedi’i lleoli yn nhîm gwasanaethau eiddo Blake Morgan yn Southampton. Mae hi’n arbenigo mewn prynu, gwerthu, datblygu a gwaredu eiddo masnachol.  Derbyniwyd Elizabeth i’r California Bar yn 2002 a bu’n gweithio’n fewnol i gwmni Fortune 300 cyn iddi symud i’r DU. Mae ei sylfaen cleientiaid yn canolbwyntio ar gontractwyr amddiffyn, endidau’r llywodraeth a lled-lywodraeth, yn ogystal â manwerthwyr a meddianwyr corfforaethol.  Ymunodd Elizabeth â Blake Morgan gyntaf ym mis Mehefin 2015, a dychwelodd i’r cwmni ym mis Mawrth 2019 fel Cyfarwyddwr Cyfreithiol.  Yn ystod ei hamser gyda’r cwmni, mae Elizabeth wedi meithrin enw da am ei gwasanaethau cleientiaid, ynghyd â’i ffocws ar rymuso cleientiaid a chydweithwyr tebyg.   Bydd hi’n chwarae rhan hollbwysig yn natblygiad y tîm gwasanaethau eiddo yn Southampton.
