Blake Morgan appointed as sole provider for regulatory legal advice by HCPC
Blake Morgan’s Regulatory Business Group has been appointed to support the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) with its regulatory legal requirements. The appointment comes following a lengthy procurement process, with Blake Morgan’s submission team being led by partners Nick Leale and Eve Piffaretti.
The contract came into effect from April 2021 and will see Blake Morgan assisting the HCPC with a wide range of High Court litigation and legal matters relating to the education institutions and systems for various professions. The firm will also act as the HCPC’s sole legal adviser for the ongoing modernisation of its regulatory structures and processes – this will include advising on legislation, procedural rules, governance documents and various other policy documents as it embarks on a period of regulatory reform.
The announcement comes hot off the heels of a separate appointment with the HCPC earlier this year, which has led to Blake Morgan assisting with a backlog of fitness to practise cases.
Nick Leale, Partner in Blake Morgan’s Reading office, said:
This high-profile win highlights the quality work carried out by our Regulatory Business Group. It is a fantastic opportunity to add further breadth to our portfolio of appointments awarded by several healthcare regulators.
Eve Piffaretti, Partner and head of Blake Morgan’s Cardiff office, commented:
It's incredibly rewarding to see the firm’s unique blend of expertise and experience paying off with this appointment. The quality of work undertaken between our various regional offices to secure this contract demonstrates the vast array of talent across our team, which is a positive sign for this project and also the future of the firm.
