Blake Morgan appointed to National Legal Services Framework by Met Police
Leading law firm Blake Morgan has been appointed by the Mayor’s Office for Police and Crime (MOPAC – the contracting and strategic oversight body responsible for the Budget of the Metropolitan Police) to the panel of law firms authorised to provide legal support to the Metropolitan Police following the retendering of its National Legal Services Framework.
The contract, which runs until the end of April 2025, saw Blake Morgan successfully appointed to Lot 1A (Procurement, Contract and Commercial and Governance: Complex Projects and Disputes) and Lot 1B (Procurement, Contract and Commercial and Governance: Business as Usual).
The firm’s appointment follows a robust bidding process, involving a series of case studies produced to tight deadlines and a range of interviews over Zoom – a new experience for many members of the team. The lead Partner with overall responsibility for the relationship with the Metropolitan Police is Simon McCann. He will be supported by fellow Partner Penny Rinta-Suksi, who will be overseeing Lot 1B.
Simon McCann, Partner at Blake Morgan, said:
This is an incredibly exciting appointment for the firm, as we look to further develop our already impressive offering within the public sector, including work with Greater Manchester Police and Thames Valley Police, as well as a wide array of public authorities. I’m incredibly proud of everyone involved in the bid, who worked together effectively to come through a rigorous process and showcase the quality and value we can bring to the table.
With more than 43,000 officers and staff, the Metropolitan Police Service is the UK’s largest police force, covering 620 square miles across 32 London boroughs and serves more than eight million people.
