Blake Morgan kick off partnership with 2B Enterprising with a visit to Hywel Dda Primary School
Eve Piffaretti, Trish D’Souza and Megan McBlain attended Hywel Dda Primary School last week as part of Blake Morgan’s partnership with 2B Enterprising.
The workshop was centred around networking and developing good communication skills – Alison from the Education Team at 2B Enterprising read The Bumbles of Honeywood to the children which taught them about the importance of confidence and being brave when meeting new people. The children then created their own business cards, focusing on what they like and what they are good at, and then put the skills they had just learnt into practice by going around the room shaking hands and introducing themselves.
Eve, Trish and Megan then took to the floor to explain to the children what a law firm is, all the different kinds of work that Blake Morgan get involved in and the role of a trainee in a law firm. The highlight of the morning for the children, and for the grown-ups, was getting to dress like a judge and trying on a Barrister’s wig and gown – which Eve willingly demonstrated! The children also eagerly took turns in sitting very still with the wig balanced on top of their heads and smiling for photos, and even the headteacher got involved. A big thank you to Tom Walker for letting us borrow his wig and gown!
The children certainly enjoyed the morning’s session, waving goodbye from the playground as the representatives from Blake Morgan and 2B Enterprising left. The headteacher has also since expressed her gratitude, “Thank you so much for visiting us…the children were very positive and excited about it afterwards” and explained that as a result of Blake Morgan’s involvement, The Bumbles of Honeywood programme will reach 60 children in the school each year!
Blake Morgan look forward to working with 2B Enterprising in the future to continue to build our relationship with Hywel Dda Primary School and support the children in their education and general well-being.
