Blake Morgan Partner on BBC Radio Wales

Blake Morgan Private Client Partner Lisa Davies was interviewed on BBC Radio Wales on Tuesday 6 June.

The topic of Advice Hour was Power of Attorney. Lisa spoke eloquently with host Anna Ryder Richardson on this crucial subject.

The pair touched on the importance of a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA), with Lisa stating:

This is probably the most important document you'll ever make. Or in some people's cases, the most important document they never make.

A Power of Attorney is the power to delegate authority to people who can make decisions on your behalf if you lose capacity to make them for themselves. This document allows people to look after you when you are at your most vulnerable, both in terms of your health and welfare decisions and your property and finance. It is completely distinct from your Will.

A Lasting Power of Attorney allows you to give someone you absolutely trust the power to look after your affairs whilst you are still alive but at your most vulnerable.

Having touched upon what an LPA is and why you need one, examples of the benefits they bring were discussed, as well as when you should make one and the different types of LPAs.
