Blake Morgan signs up to the Law Society’s Women in Law Pledge

Posted on 17th November 2021

Leading law firm Blake Morgan has announced its commitment to The Law Society’s Women in Law Pledge. This joint initiative of The Law Society, Bar Council of England and Wales, and Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) aims to create a more equal legal sector and brings gender equality to the forefront of the conversation.

By signing the Women in Law Pledge, Blake Morgan is signalling its commitment to the progress of gender equality, elimination of gender discrimination and to making positive change for the legal profession.

Signing up to The Women in Law Pledge commits the firm to supporting the progression of women into senior roles by focusing on retention and promotion opportunities. It also sets clear plans and high-level targets around gender equality and diversity, including a commitment to tackle workplace culture and bias, setting specific gender targets at leadership level and at other levels as appropriate, and making the pledge public.

This signature is the latest commitment made by Blake Morgan to continue driving equality, diversity and inclusion throughout the firm, to create a workplace where everyone can reach their fullest potential.

More recently, Blake Morgan unveiled its new Menopause in the Workplace Policy and Guide to support colleagues going through the menopause and provide guidance to managers on how they can deliver the right support in the workplace. The team is also a proud signatory to the Race at Work Charter and the Social Mobility Pledge, and appeared in the Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers list for 2020/21, for the fourth consecutive year.

Liz Bryne, HR & Development Director at Blake Morgan, said:

Blake Morgan is proud to have signed the Women in Law Pledge. The Women in Law Pledge puts the conversation about opportunities for women to progress their careers in the legal profession where it ought to be – at the top of the agenda and acknowledges the need for significant, positive change. It aligns with our commitment that equality, diversity and inclusion is a golden thread that runs through our firm, and that no one should face inequalities as a consequence of their gender.
