Blake Morgan sponsors Oxfordshire final stage of the 2022 Women’s Tour
Leading law firm Blake Morgan is sponsoring the final stage of Britain’s most prestigious women’s cycling race, The 2022 Women’s Tour, when it speeds into Oxfordshire in June.
The competition’s finale takes place on Saturday 11 June, starting in Chipping Norton and finishing in Oxford city centre, giving Oxfordshire’s residents and visitors the chance to see more than 100 of the world’s best riders taking part in the final leg of the six stage race. The 90 mile route will take the riders through large swaths of Oxfordshire, weaving through the Cotswolds before heading south through West Oxfordshire towards RAF Brize Norton. The route will then move north into Oxford via Didcot, finishing on the historic St Giles’ in central Oxford.
Cycling fans across the country are expected to visit Oxfordshire to watch the final stage, bringing an economic boost for Oxfordshire’s hospitality sector.
This is the third Women’s Tour that Blake Morgan has supported – the firm was a partner during the Henley-on-Thames to Blenheim Palace stage in 2019 and also during the first stage of the 2021 Tour, hosted by Bicester and Banbury.
Penny Rinta-Suksi, Partner in Blake Morgan’s Oxford office, said:
It is great that we are continuing to support this brilliant initiative, to promote cycling – including the health, wellbeing and environmental benefits – while celebrating the achievements of elite sportswomen and bringing people together in Oxfordshire. We are proud to continue our support again this year as Oxfordshire stage sponsor, and looking forward to joining other local organisations and residents to cheer on the competitors.
Councillor Liz Leffman, Leader of Oxfordshire County Council, said: “The Women’s Tour is a fantastic way to showcase our wonderful county to the world. I’m confident this event will support and raise awareness of cycling and its benefits, as well as bring an economic boost to our communities – so important as businesses recover from the pandemic. Hosting this prestigious race for a third time is a great collaborative effort between the county council, sponsors and supporters, and our local authority colleagues.”
