Blake Morgan x GROW Mentoring Insight Day a success
Blake Morgan collaborated with GROW Mentoring to host aspiring lawyers at our London office last month for a day of exclusive insights, interactive sessions and networking.
Hosted by partner and social mobility champion, Gemma Spiceley, the day provided an opportunity for the 40 plus candidates from GROW to visit Blake Morgan and experience a law firm, alongside receiving hints, tips and expert guidance from Blake Morgan’s graduate recruitment team, and hearing real life experience from two of our current trainees. The day was rounded off with networking drinks attended by the GROW candidates and colleagues in our London office.
GROW Mentoring supports social mobility, diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, and so is focused on supporting aspiring solicitors from diverse backgrounds, who might often be the first in their family to go to university. The insight day was open to those GROW candidates who are currently partnered with a Blake Morgan mentor, as well as candidates from the wider GROW community.
A special mention to those who took the time to take part in the insight day alongside Gemma Spiceley; Helen Bunker, Rob Brown, Olivia Wythes, Rebecca Whitehead, Thomas Jenkins, Mandeep Sahota and Rebecca Munday.
The day was a great success, with candidates being particularly interested in the Q&A session with trainee solicitors Thomas and Mandeep. They were happy to share their stories and experience as trainees in an honest way that candidates really valued and could engage with. So much so the Q&A session was extended to allow for as many questions as possible. More widely, feedback from the GROW community was that they really liked the diversity of speakers, ranging from trainees to partners, as well as business development and graduate recruitment.
