Blake Morgan’s London teams deliver another strong performance in Chambers & Partners 2021

Posted on 27th October 2020
Teams and leading individuals from across Blake Morgan’s London operations are celebrating another strong showing in the 2021 edition of the Chambers & Partners Guide, which recognises and recommends the best performing lawyers and legal firms across the UK.

This year, 42 Blake Morgan practice areas across the UK were ranked as either Band 1 or 2, with a further six ranked as Band 3.  London’s Banking and Finance team and Real Estate team received particular praise, with the latter described as ‘high quality, with considerable regional and national strength’ and Tony Coyne listed as especially notable.  The Banking and Finance team, and Meera Jansen in particular, was lauded for their ‘confident acting across a diverse array of sectors including healthcare, energy and retail’.

The firm’s work advising HSBC on the restructure and refinance of the hotel business was singled out. One client noted that the firm’s lawyers are ‘very responsive and they go the extra mile’, with another referencing the outstanding pragmatism of the teams.

The Guide also recognises leading lawyers from across the industry. This year, 34 of the firm’s lawyers were ranked as Band 1 or 2.  The firm’s future leaders – those listed as ‘associates to watch’ and ‘up and coming’ also had a good year with nine individuals listed in the 2021 Guide.

In this year’s rankings, Lucy Edwards – Legal Director and Head of the London Business Support and Insolvency team – was listed as a ‘star associate’ for her work in POCA matters and recommended for her ‘unparalleled experience’.  Flora Grossman was also singled out as ‘an exceptional family lawyer with a fantastic manner and a very impressive client base’.  She was further described as ‘clever and knowledgeable but also very emotionally intelligent’, with a client pointing in particular to her plentiful experience in divorce and family matters.

Helen Bunker, Partner in Blake Morgan’s London office, said: “In what continues to be a challenging world environment, this year’s Chambers & Partners Guide shows how consistently excellent our London teams have been. Thanks to the people we have at Blake Morgan, we’re industry leading in many of the practice areas that will be essential in helping to bolster and support a post-COVID recovery.

“It’s also a good year for rising stars, and I’m delighted Lucy Edwards is recognised for her client service and focus on going the extra mile. We’re proud of these rankings, and I’d like to thank our partners and people for their continued dedication to excellence.”
