Blake Morgan’s Wales teams celebrate top rankings in Chambers & Partners Guide 2023
Lawyers from Blake Morgan in Wales are celebrating success in the 2023 edition of the prestigious Chambers & Partners Guide, which recognises and recommends the best-performing lawyers and legal firms across the UK. Eleven of the firm’s teams based in Cardiff were selected for praise in the Guide, along with 19 individual lawyers – showcasing the firm’s wide range of specialisms and excellent client service.

Practice areas granted the highest ranking, Band 1, included the “approachable and pragmatic” Corporate M&A team, as well as the Construction, Employment, Restructuring/Insolvency, Litigation and Real Estate teams – with the Real Estate team described as delivering “excellent advice on complex land and property matters”. Real Estate Litigation, Social Housing and Administration and Public Law also secured a Band 1 ranking, with the latter praised by clients for their “ability to handle complex matters in an efficient and professional manner”.
Other teams securing rankings include Intellectual Property, and Banking and Finance. Clients were full of praise for the teams, highlighting that Blake Morgan’s Intellectual Property lawyers are “easy to reach and offer swift response times”.
The Chambers & Partners Guide also recognises lawyers who are leaders in their fields of expertise. Of the 19 lawyers from across the Wales team ranked this year, 12 were ranked as either Band 1 or Band 2, and both litigation specialist Allan Wilson and Real Estate lawyer Geoff Reed were awarded the prestigious ‘Senior Spokespeople’ status. A client described Geoff Reed as “one of the best”. In addition, Cardiff-based Head of Property Services, Phil Jardine, was recognised by Chambers as an ‘Eminent practitioner’.
The Band 1 ranking of the Employment team’s Joanne Davies was supported by client praise for her “impressive commerciality and work ethic”. Lee Fisher, Matthew Smith, Paul Caldicott and Siân Jones were also ranked as Band 1. Employment and education specialist Matthew Smith was described as “responsive, professional” and providing a “high level of assurance and diplomacy”, while dispute resolution lawyer Siân Jones was praised for her “consistently high-quality legal advice and support”.
The next generation of legal talent within Blake Morgan was also highlighted – with the Guide shining a spotlight on Blake Morgan’s most recently promoted Partner, Banking and Finance lawyer Paul Duggan. The Guide also recognises the “exceptionally strong” Real Estate Partner Daniela Smith as ‘Up & Coming’.
Across Blake Morgan’s five UK offices, the Guide ranked 33 teams as Band 1 or 2, while 60 individual lawyers were ranked – seven of whom were named ‘Senior Statespeople’. These rankings highlight the strength and depth of the talent across the firm.

Mae cyfreithwyr o Blake Morgan yng Nghymru yn dathlu llwyddiant yn rhifyn 2023 o Gyfeiriadur nodedig Siambrau a Phartneriaid, sy’n cydnabod ac yn argymell y cyfreithwyr a’r cwmnïau cyfreithiol sy’n perfformio orau ledled y DU. Dewiswyd un ar ddeg o dimau’r cwmni sydd wedi’u lleoli yng Nghaerdydd i’w canmol yn y Cyfeiriadur, ynghyd ag 19 o gyfreithwyr unigol – gan arddangos ystod eang o arbenigeddau’r cwmni a’u gwasanaeth rhagorol i gleientiaid.
Ymhlith y disgyblaethau a wobrwywyd yr argymhelliad uchaf, sef Band 1, roedd y tîm Caffael ac Uno Corfforaethol “pragmatig ac sy’n hawdd mynd atynt”, yn ogystal â’r timau Adeiladu, Cyflogaeth, Ailstrwythuro/Ansolfedd, Ymgyfreitha ac Eiddo Tirol – gyda’r tîm Eiddo Tirol yn cael ei ddisgrifio fel un sy’n cynnig “cyngor ardderchog ar faterion tir ac eiddo cymhleth”. Yn ogystal, gwobrwywyd argymhelliad Band 1 i Ymgyfreitha Eiddo Tirol, Tai Cymdeithasol a Chyfraith Weinyddol a Chyhoeddus, gyda’r olaf yn cael ei ganmol gan gleientiaid am eu “gallu i ymdrin â materion cymhleth mewn modd effeithlon a phroffesiynol”.
Gwobrwywyd argymelliadau i dimau eraill hefyd, gan gynnwys Eiddo Deallusol, a Bancio a Chyllid. Roedd cleientiaid yn hael eu canmoliaeth i’r timau, gan bwysleisio bod cyfreithwyr Eiddo Deallusol Blake Morgan yn “hawdd eu cyrraedd ac yn cynnig amseroedd ymateb cyflym”.
Mae’r Cyfeiriadur Siambrau a Phartneriaid hefyd yn cydnabod cyfreithwyr sy’n arweinwyr yn eu meysydd arbenigol. O’r 19 cyfreithiwr ar draws tîm Cymru a argymhellwyd eleni, roedd 12 wedi’u hargymell naill ai fel Band 1 neu Fand 2, a gwobrwywyd y statws clodfawr ‘Uwch Lefarwyr’ i’r arbenigwr ymgyfreitha, Allan Wilson, a’r cyfreithiwr Eiddo Tirol, Geoff Reed. Disgrifiodd cleient Geoff Reed fel “un o’r goreuon”. Yn ogystal, cafodd Phil Jardine, Pennaeth Gwasanaethau Eiddo yng Nghaerdydd, ei gydnabod gan Siambrau fel ‘ymarferydd blaenllaw’.
Cefnogwyd argymhelliad Band 1 Joanne Davies o’r Tîm Cyflogaeth gan ganmoliaeth cleientiaid am ei “masnachadwyedd a’i hethig gwaith trawiadol”. Argymhellwyd Lee Fisher, Matthew Smith, Paul Caldicott a Siân Jones hefyd fel Band 1. Disgrifiwyd Matthew Smith, yr arbenigwr cyflogaeth ac addysg, fel unigolyn “ymatebol, proffesiynol” sy’n darparu “lefel uchel o sicrwydd a diplomyddiaeth”, tra bod Siân Jones, y cyfreithiwr datrys anghydfodau, yn cael ei chanmol am ei “chyngor a chymorth cyfreithiol o ansawdd sy’n gyson uchel”.
Tynnwyd sylw hefyd at y genhedlaeth nesaf o dalent gyfreithiol o fewn Blake Morgan – gyda’r Cyfeiriadur yn taflu goleuni ar Paul Duggan, y Cyfreithiwr Bancio a Chyllid a’r Partner a ddyrchafwyd yn fwyaf diweddar yn Blake Morgan. Mae’r Cyfeiriadur hefyd yn cydnabod y Partner Eiddo Tiriog “eithriadol o gryf”, Daniela Smith, fel ‘un sydd llawn addewid”.
Ar draws pum swyddfa Blake Morgan yn y DU, argymhellodd y Cyfeiriadur 33 o dimau fel Band 1 neu 2, tra bod 60 o gyfreithwyr unigol wedi’u hargymell – gyda saith ohonynt yn cael eu henwi yn ‘Uwch Wladweinyddion’. Mae’r argymelliadau hyn yn amlygu cryfder a dyfnder y dalent ar draws y cwmni.

Mae hyn yn brawf o waith diflino ein cyfreithwyr sy’n rhagori a’r ymddiriedaeth a’r ganmoliaeth y maent wedi’u hennill yn gyson gan gleientiaid.
