Ian Skuse – a tribute

Posted on 23rd October 2023

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the death of Ian Skuse.

Ian was a partner with Piper Smith Watton (PSW), joining the London Corporate team on the merger with Blake Morgan in 2015. Ian retired as a partner at Blake Morgan in 2021, and remained a consultant to the firm.

Ian’s funeral took place on Friday 20 October 2023. Many colleagues from PSW, predecessor firm Piper Smith & Basham, and Blake Morgan joined clients, friends and Ian’s family, to celebrate his life and say farewell.

A collection was taken for The Tessa Jowell Foundation, a charity set up to improve the inequalities in brain cancer treatment and care.

For those who didn’t know Ian, the words below will give you a sense of the man, and the lawyer, he was.

Although Ian’s knowledge, intelligence and great legal skill would have been enough to see him succeed as a leading light in the travel industry over his many years of practice, he was as successful as he was just as much for his warm and welcoming character and fun-loving nature. One of Ian’s many skills was that he truly was a people person and had the ability to make people feel at ease and as if they had known him their whole life after only a very short time in his presence.
