Blake Morgan has made two appointments to strengthen its offering to clients in the social housing sector.

The firm has appointed Kate Silverman as a Partner in its London-based Built Environment Team. Kate, who joins the firm from TLT and was previously with Lewis Silkin, specialises in housing and regeneration and has extensive experience advising Registered Providers and local authorities.

The firm has also appointed Elaine Allen as a Legal Director in the team. Elaine, previously of Prince Evans Solicitors and Perrins Mydellton, works with registered providers, councils and developers in the acquisition and development of land.

The firm also welcomes another vastly experienced Social Housing lawyer, Hugh James, who joins as a Legal Director. Hugh brings with him over 20 years’ experience and will be based in the firm’s Southampton office.

It comes as Blake Morgan has strengthened its teams as part of an ongoing recruitment drive, with appointments made in its London-based built environment, commercial litigation, private law, residential property and real estate practices as well as in the wider firm’s offices on the South Coast, Thames Valley and in Cardiff.

Mike Wilson, Managing Partner at Blake Morgan, said: “We are delighted to welcome Kate, Elaine and Hugh to our Built Environment team. Kate has a strong reputation in social housing which will further reinforce the London team.

“She will also support the social housing practice across the firm’s regional offices in the Thames Valley, Cardiff and on the South Coast. Elaine is very experienced and extremely well-regarded in the field of social housing law.”
