Simon Burge named Family Lawyer of the Year

Posted on 17th February 2020

Blake Morgan Partner, Simon Burge, has been recognised in the 2020 Best Lawyers guide as the “Lawyer of the Year” in Family Law in Southampton.

The Best Lawyers awards are the oldest peer review awards in the legal industry and are highly regarded by clients and legal professionals. The lists of outstanding lawyers are compiled by conducting peer review surveys in which tens of thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. This is a prestigious accolade to achieve with less than 5% of all practicing lawyers being recognised by Best Lawyers, and only one lawyer is recognised as the “Lawyer of the Year” for each speciality and location.

Simon is an experienced family law practitioner specialising in high net value family cases. His main areas of practice include divorce, separation agreements, pre-nuptial agreements, post-nuptial agreements, financial remedy, cohabitation agreements, maintenance, lump sum, property adjustment and pension sharing orders. He also advises on domestic violence injunctions, issues surrounding the enforcement and variation of financial orders, negotiating financial settlements and drafting consent orders, advising in relation to TOLATA and Schedule 1 Children Act claims.

Commenting on the accreditation, Simon Burge said: ‘I am delighted to have been nominated for this award, for the second year running. I am fortunate to have had the support of an excellent team of Family Law specialists at Blake Morgan and have also benefitted from the cross-referral of high net worth matrimonial clients from colleagues in other departments.’

Blake Morgan’s team of family law solicitors advises couples and families on all legal matters concerning relationships and children. With blended families becoming more common, preserving wealth is now also firmly on the family agenda. From relationships ending, new relationships starting to step-children and how assets should be divided or protected, our family law solicitors understand it can be overwhelming for those in this position.
