Mercedes–Benz Financial Services excess mileage charges refund programme

We’re helping Mercedes-Benz Financial Services with their excess mileage refund programme.

Mercedes-Benz Financial Services have found that the excess mileage term in their Hire Purchase agreements made on or after 1 January 2014, was not as clear as they’d have liked. This meant that they were not clear enough in setting out the excess mileage charges a customer would have to pay to Mercedes-Benz Financial Services if the customer exercised their statutory right to voluntarily terminate the agreement.

Mercedes-Benz Financial Services are amending their agreements so that the excess mileage term is clearer. They’ll also be making refund payments to customers who have paid them excess mileage charges under a Hire Purchase agreement (including an Agility agreement) if they:

  • Started the agreement with Mercedes-Benz Financial Services on or after 1 January 2014; and if they,
  • Exercised their statutory right to voluntarily terminate the agreement.

Mercedes-Benz Financial Services have begun to contact customers who are entitled to a refund and they expect to contact all affected customers by the end of December 2024. If you are entitled to a refund, you will receive a letter from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services confirming that a refund is due and:

  • If you are a current customer, they will make a refund payment direct to you.
  • If you are not a current customer, then we will write to you shortly after you receive the letter from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services asking you to contact us so that we may verify your current details. Mercedes-Benz Financial Services will then make a refund payment to you.

If you think you’re entitled to a refund and haven’t been contacted by Mercedes-Benz Financial Services  or us by the end of December 2024 please contact us at [email protected]. We will answer any questions you may have. We will be able to respond more efficiently via email. If you’re unable to email or have difficulty with emails, please call us on 0333 0033 204. Our lines are open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, excluding bank holidays.
