Senior Associate / Legal Director – Banking & Finance


We have a new opportunity for a Senior Associate / Legal Director to join our Banking and Finance team on the South Coast.  Working from our Head Office near Southampton, the role offers a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring partner to consolidate their Practice experience alongside Kath Shimmin (ranked Band 1 – Chambers and Partners) and the local team, as part of our “highly knowledgeable”* Banking and Finance team based from our offices in London, Reading, Oxford and Cardiff.

We are able to offer a broad scope of work, advising on mid-market secured lending transactions, including acquisition and leveraged debt, real estate finance and asset financing (including invoice financing and general secured and structured lending), often with an international element.  We act for a wide variety of lenders including clearing banks, investment and merchant banks, mezzanine and non-institutional funders, as well as borrowers – including private and public companies, colleges and universities and housing associations. The team works in partnership with our Corporate, Real Estate, Regulatory, Business Restructuring and Insolvency and Construction teams on a cross-team and cross-office basis, as well as foreign counsel on international transactions.
The position is Southampton based, with occasional travel to our London, Thames Valley and Cardiff offices, and offers exciting opportunities for an ambitious and career minded individual with aspirations to become a Partner in the next few years.

Skills / Experience Required

•       5+ years PQE gained within a Banking and Finance Practice either private practice or in house
•       A good breadth of experience spanning general Secured Lending work
•       Strong technical and project management skills
•       An appetite and aptitude for Business Development
•       Confident and personable
•       A team player
•       Good communication skills (verbal and written)
•       Commercial awareness and a straightforward approach
•       Committed to working in, and fostering, a diverse and inclusive firm
