Paralegal – Regulatory


Under the guidance of an experienced case manager you will be undertaking a case investigator role, predominantly on behalf of regulators in the healthcare sector. These regulators ensure that the public is protected and standards are maintained by investigating concerns raised regarding the conduct, competence and health of registrants which might impact on their fitness to practise.
You will be conducting witness interviews, drafting witness statements and obtaining and preparing all hearing documentation in accordance with a case plan. You will communicate extensively with witnesses, professional registrants, legal representatives and our regulatory clients.
As your experience develops, you will be able to prepare case plans for investigations and draft reports summarising the evidence available, all with the support and under the supervision of your dedicated line manager.  This role can be based out of our Southampton, Reading or Cardiff office.

Skills / Experience Required

  • Law degree (ideally LPC / SQE qualified) and able to demonstrate the required skills as a Paralegal from practise
  • Evidence of previous experience interviewing witnesses and completing accurate and focused drafting of witness statements and reports, as a paralegal within a healthcare regulatory setting
  • Good communication skills (oral and written)

Our Regulatory Business Group is recognised in both Chambers and Legal 500 as a highly regarded team specialising in advising professional regulators, particularly in the healthcare sector. The team do this by investigating concerns regarding a professional’s fitness to practise, which may arise because of their conduct, competence or health.
The purpose of the investigation is to obtain evidence, including witness statements, so that an informed decision can be made regarding the concerns that have been raised and whether there is a case to answer. If there is, we help prepare the case for a hearing and often our in house advocates will present it.
We have one of the largest teams in the country, comprising solicitors, barristers, CILEX lawyers, paralegals and trainees and we are supported by a dedicated professional support lawyer and an experienced administrative team.
