Unqualified Advocate – Regulatory
Our Regulatory team is looking to recruit an unqualified full-time advocate to respond to increasing volumes of work and new client wins. Recognised in both Chambers and Legal 500 as a highly regarded team specialising in advising professional regulators, our clients include regulators and professionals in a number of sectors including law (we act for the SRA), health and social care, accountancy and education. We have one of the largest teams in the country, comprising solicitors, barristers, CILEX lawyers, paralegals and trainees and we are supported by an experienced administrative team. We are driven by a shared desire to carry out important work that protects the public in a person-centred way.
The ideal candidate will be an aspiring solicitor or barrister with a good professional regulatory knowledge, who can demonstrate training or commercial experience as an advocate.
We act for a range of clients, appearing before regulatory tribunals and courts in England and Wales. Team members enjoy hybrid working and can be based out of our Reading, London, Southampton or Cardiff office.
About the role
As an advocate, you will:
- Present cases for hearing including interim order applications and reviews and final hearings
- Be responsible for the content of hearing documentation, including skeleton arguments, opening notes, etc
- Manage a caseload of matters, making simple enquiries to gather evidence and following client and tribunal processes to prepare those matters for hearing
Full support, induction and ongoing training will be offered as part of the role.
About you
The successful candidate will be someone with a good understanding of the professional regulatory field who has some previous experience as an advocate – gained through commercial experience or a period of training. You are likely to be someone with aspiration to become a solicitor or barrister.
You must also be able to demonstrate:
